2021 Central York MS Boys Soccer

COVID-19 Protocols & Guidelines

The following are the set of guidelines that we have initiated to keep all athletes, families and staff safe. Our goal is to continue to monitor and adjust these protocols appropriately and safely throughout the course of the season as state and federal guidelines continue to change.

ANY Coach, Staff, or Athlete showing COVID-19 symptoms (or positive test results) should be reported to the coach and athletic director immediately.

Daily Check-in Procedures (for Practices & Games)

  • Players should call/text coaching staff if they are not able to participate due to any illness.
  • Players should be arrive at the soccer field on time.
  • Any players that arrive early are to stay in vehicle until the coaching staff is ready to initiate the check-in process.
  • Health check:
    • Upon arrival, ALL coaches and players will be screened for signs/symptoms of COVID-19.
    • Screenings will include a temperature check and symptom screening questions.
    • Responses to screening questions and temperature reading for each person will be recorded and stored so that there is a record of everyone who was present in the event that we need traceability tracking.

Pre-workout screening will ask about the following symptoms:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore Throat

If all criteria are satisfied the player will be admitted into the field area and cleared to play for that training/game.  Any person(s) with positive symptoms reported WILL NOT be allowed to take part in practices/games until cleared by doctor.

If a fever is detected:

  1. The training staff will be immediately notified.
  2. The player’s parents will be contacted.
  3. The player will be isolated away from the team until they’re able to be picked up.
  4. A return to play will need to be endorsed by a doctor.

Sanitizing and Cleaning Procedures:

  • Players and staff will be required to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before, during, and after each session.
  • Frequently touched surfaces such as soccer balls and other equipment will be sanitized after each session.

Guidelines for practices:

  • As noted above players/staff will go through pre-screen questionnaire and temperature check upon arrival.
  • Players gear and backpacks will be placed along the parking lot edge spaced 6 feet apart. We highly recommend bringing plastic bags for the gear in the event of inclement weather (no indoor storage space will be available).
  • Players MUST provide their own water bottle. Water bottles may NOT be shared. We will NOT have team water jugs available.
  • The only shared item will be soccer balls.
  • There will be no throwing or handling permitted during practices, with the exception goalkeepers wearing gloves (who will be told “no spitting on gloves for tackiness” in order to minimize spreading germs).
  • Social Distancing should be applied in locker rooms, during practices, and in gathering areas.
    • NO shaking hands, high fives, fist bumps, hugs, etc.
    • No spitting on the pitch.
    • Masks will be required to be worn in accordance with state guidelines.
  • We are prepared to:
    • Conduct both large group and/or small group training sessions depending on player availability
    • Limit player-to-player contact during sessions
    • Hold non-contact practices and/or modified game rules if necessary
  • After the training/game is complete, players are to immediately get into their vehicle.  They may not congregate in the parking lot.

Additional Health and Safety Protocols:

Regularly communicate and monitor developments with local authorities, employees, and families regarding cases, exposures, and updates to policies and procedures
