About Me
Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! As the learning support math teacher, I am excited to be working with your child this year. First, let me take a moment to tell you a little about myself. I began my teaching career in Virginia as an 11th grade honors social studies teacher. Next I then taught math/science/social studies to special education students who were placed at an alternative school setting. I have taught five summers of Autistic Support, and 1- ½ years of high school emotional support as well. This will be my seventh year of learning support math here at Central York Middle School and I could not be more excited!
What your child will learn...
In seventh and eighth grade math, your child will be working through the College Prep Math program, which is the same as the program from last year. Topics we will encounter through out the year: data interpretation, integers, graphing, probability, fractions, algebraic sentences, solving equations, ratios, proportions, percents, geometry concepts, and rate of change.
Communication
I respect the fact that you know your child very well, which is why I would like to keep the lines of communication open. Throughout the year, I will keep you informed of class happenings. When problems arise in the classroom, I will work with your child individually to resolve the matter. If we are unable to resolve an issue, I will contact you for support and assistance. Together, we can usually resolve any issues. Similarly, if you have questions or concerns, I encourage you to contact me directly. Email is the fastest means of communication, but you also may leave a message on my voicemail. Every attempt will be made to respond to your emails and voice messages within 48 hours.

Furthermore, I encourage you to take a few minutes to do the following:

• Send me an email to introduce yourself, your child, and/or to ask questions
• Establish a routine with your child for checking planners and reviewing assignments
• Designate a place in your home for your child to place important school papers that need to be signed and returned
• Check out the class web page daily for important announcements

From all this, I hope that you can see that I take my job seriously. I look forward to getting to know your child and to meet you personally during our back-to-school open house, parent visitation day, or parent-teacher conferences. I am confident that this year will be a memorable one. Thank you for sharing your child with me this year!
