Diversity Education Specialist

My name is Delma Rivera-Lytle.  As the  Diversity Education Specialist at Central York Middle School,  the 2011-12 school year will be my 6th year working with Central York School District.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gettysburg College and I am a Central York High School graduate.   It is a privilege to be back at my alma mater. My background includes numerous years as a social worker at the York Spanish American Center.  Working with students is my passion. As the Diversity Education Specialist, I work closely with the guidance counselors, social workers, administrators, teachers, and staff.  I am one of many resources available for your students. In addition to working at the Middle School, I work closely with the diversity specialists assigned to other buildings.

In my role as a Diversity Education Specialist,  I have served as the coordinator for the annual district wide Diversity Celebration, member of InTac (CYMS student assistance team), Olweus bullying prevention program, diversity executive committee, student services committee, and help coordinate the Race Against Racism.  I also am a Leadership for Diverse Schools graduate.

The 6th annual Diversity Celebration will  be hosted by CYMS on Saturday, April 21, 2012  from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.  Anyone interested in volunteering or participating in our Celebration, please feel free to contact me.

I look forward to meeting with our students and parents   The Central York School District population includes a growing diversity of economic, racial, religious, social, ethnic, and students challenged in many different areas.   My goal is to make ALL students feel welcome and respected in an environment of inclusion.  In this way we can together best acieve Central's mission statement which is "committed to providing eucational opportunities through which ALL students strive to achieve their full potential".

Sincerely,

Delma
